On Thursday morning, February 12, 2026, the Supreme Medical Council conducted the first proficiency exam for the medical professional licensing in Ibb Governorate for the year 2026. Hosted by Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences, the event witnessed a broad participation from health professionals across various medical disciplines.
Dr. Abdulalrahman Alhamadi, the Secretary General of the Supreme Medical Council, inspected the examination process and explained that the council launched unified exams today across the Capital Secretariat, Hodiedah and Ibb. He praised the efforts of Jiblah Univesity for Medical and Health Sciences, represented by Prof. Dr. Abdullah Al-Matari, the University Rector, for creating the necessary conditions to ensure the success of the exams and providing a suitable environment for the candidates.
Prof. Dr. Abdullah Al-Matari confirmed that the university accommodated 884 applicants (male and female) from various medical fields, including Medicine, Dentistry, Laboratories, Pharmacy, Midwifery, Anesthesia and Radiology Technology, and Operating Room Technicians. He commended the university’s staff efforts, led by Dr. Mohammed Al-Hetar, the Vice Rector for Students’ Affairs, and Mr Nabil Abdulkareem Ali, the Secretary General of the university.
Dr. Al-Matari emphasized that proficiency exams are a fundamental tool for ensuring the eligibility of practitioners and the quality of health services provided to citizens. He noted that the health sector is constantly evolving, requiring workers to keep pace with new medical knowledge, skills and technologies; and stay updated on scientific research and studies to improve professional performance.
Dr. Najeeb Al-Kamel, The General Director of the Public Health and Population Office in Ibb praised Jiblah University’s role in graduating big numbers of qualified health cadres annually. He stated that these graduates are a vital asset to the health sector in the governorate and the republic for enhancing the community’s health needs. Additionally, these exams are part of the Supreme Medical Council’s commitment for regulating medical practice and ensuring the competence of the healthcare workforce to improve overall service quality. The visit included:
