The Quality Management Department at Jiblah University Hospital concluded today, Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the annual workshop dedicated to analyzing and evaluating the results of performance indicators for all hospital departments. The workshop lasted for four consecutive days, four hours daily, and featured in-depth discussions and professional analysis of departmental performance during the past period, in line with the hospital’s approach toward institutionalizing indicator-based management and strengthening continuous improvement.
Throughout the workshop, a comprehensive review of various performance indicators was conducted. A spirit of transparency and openness prevailed in presenting challenges, analyzing the causes of deviations, and discussing appropriate solutions to ensure the enhancement of medical service quality and institutional performance efficiency.
The workshop sessions included presentations and discussions of performance indicators across different hospital departments, in addition to reviewing patient satisfaction indicators and analyzing their underlying causes. The mechanism for classifying early-hour deaths into gross deaths and net deaths was also reviewed to enhance analytical accuracy and improve medical interventions. Furthermore, indicators related to complications, infections, sterilization safety, and incidental accidents were addressed. Emphasis was placed on the importance of developing the “Blue Code” policy for emergency response team activation in various departments, as well as training healthcare staff in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and enhancing their readiness to handle critical cases.
The workshop also covered the importance of compliance with wearing identification badges and nursing uniforms, raising staff awareness of quality policies and procedures, and ensuring the proper application of sterilization methods across departments to safeguard both patients and staff. Additionally, discussions addressed the rate of referrals outside the hospital—whether for service-related or medical reasons—with the aim of analyzing and reducing them as much as possible, thereby strengthening the hospital’s capacity to manage cases internally.
Key Outcomes and Recommendations of the Workshop:
- Agreement to revise the wording of several performance indicators to better reflect actual work practices and ensure measurement accuracy and result credibility.
- Identification of equipment and medical/technical supply needs in certain departments to enhance performance efficiency.
- Submission of a report outlining workforce and qualified staff needs in specific specialties to bridge existing gaps.
- Approval of a timeline for scheduling periodic and emergency maintenance of selected facilities and equipment.
- Development of a matrix of specialized training courses for certain staff members and departments based on analysis results.
- Identification of strategic issues requiring direct intervention by hospital management for appropriate decision-making.
- Adoption of a mechanism for monthly departmental review of performance indicators to ensure early detection and correction of deviations.
- Endorsement of a new edition of the 2026 performance indicators as the official reference adopted within the hospital.
The Quality Management Department affirmed that the workshop reflected an advanced level of awareness among department heads and quality coordinators regarding the importance of the “language of numbers” and continuous measurement as a foundation for development and sound decision-making. The department also extended its appreciation to the hospital administration for its sponsorship and ongoing support of quality activities and programs, and thanked all participants for their positive engagement and effective contributions to the success of the workshop, in service of the hospital’s goal of providing safe, high-quality healthcare.
