Faculty of Dentistry

Faculty mission

It seeks to provide distinguished programs in dentistry by preparing and qualifying its capable and efficient human resources capable of competing locally, regionally and globally, and preparing plans and programs aimed at providing and practicing quality services in the fields of dentistry in accordance with the standards of the Academic Accreditation Council and ensuring the quality of higher education.

Faculty objectives

The graduate is expected to be able to:

  1. Acquire the knowledge, understanding, and various skills necessary to provide primary health care to different groups of society.
  2. Make appropriate clinical decisions based on contemporary knowledge in oral and dental medicine and surgery.
  3. Communicate effectively with dental patients and their families to develop a clear and accurate approach to care.
  4. Acquire advanced clinical skills, research methods, and specialization at a competent level for sound clinical practice.
  5. Practicing the highest ethical and professional standards.
  6. Identify the different skills required in the labor market for the dental profession.

  • Bachelor of Oral and Dental Medicine and Surgery - Bachelor of General Medicine &Surgery (MBchB.)

System and duration of study

  • Annual system - five years

Faculty admission requirements:-

  1. Obtaining secondary school certificate – scientific section with a percentage of no less than (85%).
  2. The secondary school certificate must be no more than six years old.
  3. Meeting the coordination and acceptance conditions and passing the admission test.
  4. Obtaining a fitness certificate from the university hospital.

Requirements for attendance and completion of the program:-

Regarding the requirements for attendance and completion of the program, work is carried out according to Prime Minister’s Decision No. (284) of 2008 regarding the unified system for student affairs in Yemeni (governmental) universities, as well as what was stated in the university guide for the year 2020.

When implementing the program, the following should be taken into account:

  1. The semester is 16 weeks, including 14 weeks for teaching and two weeks for midterm and final exams.
  2. University requirements courses (Islamic culture, national culture and Arab conflict) are implemented via distance learning.
  3. The student is required, within the framework of his group, to carry out a practical seminar in each semester on one of the scientific topics related to dentistry, under the direct supervision of the deanship of the faculty and in accordance withthe performance evaluation form approved by the University Council at its session (6) on 6/11/2021 AD.
  4. The summer semester is implemented after the completion of the second semester exams of the fourth level during the summer vacation extending from 7/15 to 9/15, and it is considered one of the fifth level courses.
  5. Publishing a scientific research in the second semester of the fifth level in one of the peer-reviewed scientific journals and it is carried out under the supervision of a faculty member in a specialty close to the subject.

Graduation requirements:-

  • The total number of hours required for graduation is 2822 credit hours.
  • The minimum score required for success for each of the program’s courses is
    65%.
  • Total grades or grades required for graduation:-

– The maximum grade required for graduation is 3.57 (100%) * 2822 = 10075
grades. 

-The minimum grades required for graduation are 2.32 (65%) * 2822 = 6551
grades.

-In order to pass, each course is required to obtain 65% of the grade, regardless
of the total number of grades in other courses.
