Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences, in collaboration with Jiblah University Hospital, held a specialized scientific event on Saturday morning, April 25, 2026, to commemorate World Malaria Day. The event was sponsored by Prof. Dr. Abdullah Al-Matari, Rector of the University, and attended by academic and medical staff as well as students from health-related disciplines.

At the opening of the seminar, which began with verses from the Holy Qur’an followed by the national anthem, the Rector of the University expressed his appreciation to the students who organized the event, praising their initiative and reaffirming the university leadership’s commitment to supporting student scientific activities and providing an enabling environment for their success, thereby contributing to the preparation of qualified medical professionals. He emphasized that malaria is a crucial health issue intersecting with various medical fields, including clinical medicine, medical laboratories, pharmacy, public health, and health systems management. He noted that addressing this disease requires scientific and professional integration across these disciplines. He further added that such events enhance students’ comprehensive understanding and help bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application, which positively reflects on the quality of healthcare outcomes.

The event also featured a distinguished contribution by Dr. Mohammed Al-Hetar, Vice President for Student Affairs, whose intervention enriched the scientific discussion and introduced important perspectives on the development of academic and healthcare work, thereby deepening the discourse and fostering engagement among participants. The event included several specialized scientific sessions addressing the latest developments in malaria control, as follows:

Epidemiological Dynamics and Strategic Transformation in Malaria Control, presented by Moatasem Al-Maradi

Quality of Health Response in Malaria Control: From Preventive Awareness to Sustainable Health Performance, presented by Fulla Al-Akhsher

Advanced Pathophysiology and Molecular Pathogenic Mechanisms, presented by Hisham Al-Athwari

Recent Advances in Diagnosis and Genetic Surveillance, presented by Asala Al-Dahmash and Iman Al-Mutawakel

Modern Therapeutic Strategies and Drug Resistance, presented by Isra’a Al-Ibi

Innovative Preventive Measures and Modern Vaccines, presented by Dr. Majed Al-Mazjaji

Health Systems Governance and Health Economics, presented by Saif Al-Shami

The sessions emphasized the importance of keeping pace with recent advancements in malaria diagnosis and treatment, and highlighted the need to employ modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, to support epidemiological surveillance and reduce disease spread.

Additionally, the event concluded with several recommendations, most notably: updating medical curricula, strengthening training programs, establishing advanced epidemiological surveillance mechanisms, and standardizing diagnostic and treatment protocols. This event aligns with the university’s role in promoting health awareness, contributing to disease control efforts, and linking academic knowledge with practical application to serve the community.
