Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdullah Al-Matari, Rector of Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences, the University’s Vice Rector for Student Affairs organized a welcome event for new students for the 2026–2027 academic year on Thursday morning, October 1, 2026.

The event was attended by Judge Abdul-Fattah Ghallab, deputy governor and supervisor of general mobilization in the governorate; Dr. Mohammed Al-Hetar, Vice Rector for Student Affairs; Prof. Dr. Sadeq Kaid Al-Mohani, Advisor to the Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Laboratory Medicine; Prof. Dr. Abdul-Hakim Al-Sabban, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Prof. Dr. Murad Al-Dharasi, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing; Dr. Abdullah Al-Warafi, member of the university advisory board; and Dr. Abdul-Ghani Mu’aizib, Advisor to the Rector.

The event began with recitations from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the playing of the national anthem. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Matari then delivered a welcoming address in which he welcomed the new students and expressed his pleasure at their joining Jiblah University community. He emphasized that the university regards its students as the central focus of the educational process and the foundation of its mission to prepare qualified medical and health professionals with strong scientific and practical skills who are capable of serving the community and contributing to the development of the health sector.

The rector noted that Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences has witnessed significant qualitative development in recent years across academic, research, and infrastructure-related areas. This has included the introduction of new academic programs, the development of laboratories and classrooms, the expansion of postgraduate programs, the strengthening of academic partnerships, and increased attention to scientific research and digital transformation. He emphasized that these achievements are part of the university’s vision of building a leading academic institution that meets quality standards and academic accreditation requirements. Al-Matari urged students to make the most of their university years by developing their academic and practical abilities, adhering to university regulations, upholding professional ethics, and taking full advantage of the educational and research opportunities provided by the university. He stressed that the university would spare no effort in providing an appropriate academic environment that enables students to achieve creativity and excellence.

For his part, Judge Abdul-Fattah Ghallab, deputy governor and supervisor of general mobilization in the governorate, delivered an address congratulating the new students on beginning their university journey. He praised the role played by Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences in qualifying medical and health professionals and highlighted the academic and scientific presence the university has established over recent years. He emphasized that university education represents a pivotal stage in developing students’ academic and national character and requires hard work, diligence, and discipline. He wished the students success in their academic journey.

The event included a number of introductory sessions aimed at familiarizing students with the university, its regulations, and its services. Dr. Mohammed Al-Hetar, Vice Rector for Student Affairs, gave a presentation covering the history of the university and its faculties, the academic and examination systems, mechanisms for honoring outstanding students, and the programs and activities offered to students. He emphasized the Vice Presidency for Student Affairs’ commitment to preparing new students and helping them integrate into the university environment from their very first day. He also explained the rector’s award for supporting outstanding students and the mechanisms for implementing it, as well as external training opportunities offered in coordination with the Arab Council for Training and Student Creativity.

Mr. Mahmoud Molhy, General Registrar of the University, presented the Student Affairs Regulations, explaining students’ rights and responsibilities and the regulations governing university life. This contributes to increasing students’ awareness of university regulations and reinforcing the principles of discipline and responsibility. In the same context, Ms. Samar Al-Surqi gave a presentation on the financial system, payment procedures, and financial services available to students. Engineer Waleed Salem, General Director of Information Systems, introduced the electronic services available through the student portal and explained how students can use them to complete various academic and administrative transactions electronically. This reflects the university’s commitment to digital transformation and the development of its educational services.

The opening program for welcoming new students also included a speech delivered by student Asrar Ali Qasim Hassan, who expressed the students’ pride in joining Jiblah University and thanked the university leadership for the warm welcome and the excellent preparation and organization of the event. Student Osama Al-Warafi, representing the Student Forum, presented the programs and activities implemented by the forum to serve students and promote a spirit of cooperation and teamwork on campus.

The event concluded with an orientation lecture delivered by Dr. Hisham Al-Athouri, a graduate of the General Medicine and Surgery Department at the Faculty of Medicine. The lecture included a range of guidance and advice to help students adapt to university life, make the most of their years of study, and develop an academic and professional character capable of meeting the demands of the labor market and serving the community. This event is part of the annual program organized by Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences at the beginning of each academic year. The program aims to prepare new students, familiarize them with university regulations, policies, and services, and strengthen their sense of belonging to the academic institution, thereby helping them begin their university journey in an educational environment based on quality, excellence, and discipline.
