The university council held its first meeting of the 2026–2027 academic year on Wednesday morning, September 30, 2026, chaired by Prof. Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Matari, Rector of the University. The meeting was attended by Prof. Ahmed Ali Al-Hazmi, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies; Dr. Mohammed Al-Hetar, Vice Rector for Student Affairs; Prof. Dr. Sadeq Kaid Al-Mohani, Advisor to the University Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Laboratory Medicine; and Dr. Abdullah Al-Warafi, Advisor to the University Rector. The meeting discussed and approved a number of academic, administrative, and financial matters included in its agenda, as part of the university’s efforts to monitor institutional operations, strengthen development plans, and prepare for the requirements of the new academic year.
Mr. Abu Zaid Al-Shaj’e, General Director of Jiblah District, and Mr. Abduldaim Al-Hadrami, Assistant General Director of the District, also participated in part of the meeting, highlighting the level of coordination and cooperation between the university and the local authority in supporting the university’s projects and its academic and development programs. The Council began its proceedings with Mr. Nabil Abdulkareem, Secretary-General of the University, reading the minutes of the previous meeting, which were subsequently approved.
The Council discussed the university’s general budget for the 2026–2027 academic year, ensuring the provision of the necessary requirements for implementing academic and administrative plans and continuing the university’s development projects in various fields. These efforts aim to enhance institutional performance and improve the quality of educational and research services. The council also discussed the results of the selection committees for the appointment of teaching staff members and their assistants in several university faculties. It reviewed a number of academic matters related to the development of the educational process, including mechanisms for enabling university teaching assistants to enroll in master’s programs. This will contribute to preparing and qualifying academic personnel and supporting the continuous professional development of faculty members. The council also discussed several issues related to academic programs, supporting graduate studies, and improving the quality of educational outcomes. The council further addressed a number of organizational and administrative matters related to the operation of the colleges, as well as mechanisms for enhancing institutional performance. These efforts are intended to contribute to developing the university environment, improving academic and administrative performance, and achieving the highest levels of discipline and effectiveness across various academic and administrative units.
Prof. Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Matari, Rector of the University, affirmed that holding the first University Council meeting of the new academic year reflects the university leadership’s commitment to continue the development of institutional performance, enhancing the quality of education and scientific research, and building qualified academic personnel capable of meeting the requirements of development. He stressed the importance of integrating efforts across all sectors of the university to achieve its strategic objectives, enhance academic and administrative performance, and positively impact the quality of the university’s educational outcomes and its mission of serving the community.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the council adopted a number of decisions and recommendations concerning academic, administrative, and financial affairs, reaffirming its commitment to implementing the university’s development plans, enhancing the quality of education, qualifying academic personnel, and improving institutional performance. These efforts aim to strengthen the standing of Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences and support its aspirations toward excellence and academic accreditation.
