On Saturday, April 25, 2026, and as part of efforts to strengthen the community and practical role of medical students, fifth-year students from the Faculty of Dentistry at Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences carried out an awareness field visit to Al-Falah and Al-Zahraa schools. The activity was held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdullah Al-Matari, Rector of the University, and under the direct guidance of Prof. Dr. Faisal Abu Luhoum, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, and Dr. Salah Al-Amrani, Vice Dean of the Faculty.
The outreach was conducted within the framework of the course “Community Dentistry” and was directly supervised by Dr. Ala’a Al-Qahtani, course instructor, and the participation of Dr. Ahlam Abu Al-Rijal and Dr. Salman Al-Ameri. The supervisory team provided hands-on training to students in health education skills, professional patient interaction, as well as diagnostic principles and treatment planning to enhance their readiness for clinical practice.
The key activities of the field visit are:
Health Education and Awareness:
Students delivered educational sessions on the importance of oral and dental health, including explanations of the causes and types of dental caries, along with practical demonstrations of proper toothbrushing techniques.
Free Screening and Diagnosis:
Comprehensive on-site dental examinations were conducted for students at both schools. Cases were documented, dental caries and their stages were diagnosed, and appropriate medical advice was provided for each case.
Communication and Treatment Support:
Official notifications were sent to the parents of students who require treatment, inviting them to complete care free of charge at the faculty’s clinics. This reflects the integration of education with community service.
Recreational Awareness Activities:
The initiative included the distribution of oral care supplies (toothpaste and toothbrushes) in an engaging environment aimed at reinforcing healthy habits among the targeted groups.
At the conclusion of the outreach, the students expressed their gratitude to the university leadership, the faculty administration, and the teaching staff for their continuous support. They also acknowledged the efforts of the organizing team, including Mohammed Hizam Al-Amari, Tasbeeh Al-Shamiri, and Ismail Al-Sayed, for their valuable contributions to the success of the initiative. Moreover, this activity aligns with the university’s vision of linking academic knowledge with practical application and promoting students’ sense of social responsibility, thereby contributing to the preparation of qualified healthcare professionals capable of serving the community effectively.
