Learning outcomes

After the student completes these programs, he will be able to obtain the learning outcomes that are appropriate for each of the following skills:

Knowledge and understanding: - ( knowledge and understanding )

After completing this program, the student will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of:

  1. Basic concepts and principles in scientific and applied fields related to the specialty.
  2. Knowledge of the anatomical and functional structure of the human body at all molecular, cellular, organic and chemical levels at different stages of life.
  3. Knowledge of the different diagnostic methods for the most common diseases in Yemen, with a focus on the diagnostic importance of each method in order to reach the correct diagnosis for patients.
  4. Basic principles of epidemiology, epidemiological surveillance, public health, health promotion and preventive medicine.
  5. Knowing the various causes of diseases, whether genetic, congenital, immunological, environmental, or other, and how all these factors combine to cause the disease.
  6. The ethical and legal principles of the profession, the legal medical aspects of practicing the profession, and errors.
  7. Principles and basics of sterilization, infection control and pollution prevention, in accordance with internationally accepted standards.

Cognitive Skills ( Intellectual skills )

After completing this program, the student will be able to demonstrate mental skills by:

  1. eading and organizing the results of laboratory medical tests, interpreting them, and evaluating the reality of health problems in society using scientific methodology in research.
  2. The ability to link laboratory results with the patient’s clinical condition.
  3. Detecting epidemics and diseases in the surrounding environment and dealing with them.
  4. The ability to provide consultations and research related to aspects of medical diagnosis.
  5. Choose the appropriate diagnostic methods for each case, taking into account the cost and importance of each.

Practical and Professional Skills ( practical and professional skills )

After completing this program, the student will be able to demonstrate professional and practical skills by:

  1. Conducting vital laboratory analyzes of body fluids, taking samples, and using modern laboratory equipment.
  2. Laboratory management, their types, departments and information systems.
  3. Participation in awareness programs, medical education, and disease prevention programs directed to some categories of the medical team.
  4. Contributing to the surveillance of diseases through reporting them and identifying cases that should be referred to a higher level of care.
  5. The ethical and legal practice of the profession, and the forensic aspects of the practice of the profession and errors.

Transferable / General Skills ( Transferable - General skills )

After completing this program, the student will be able to demonstrate general and transferable skills by:

  1. He used his senses and movements skillfully in the actions required of him.
  2. Encouraging research, writing, and publishing in fields of knowledge related to medical fields.
  3. Work independently, or as part of a team, in various areas of laboratory diagnosis.
  4. Deal firmly and clearly with any behavior that does not comply with professional ethics, issued by a colleague.
  5. Working under difficult circumstances, such as crises and epidemics, analyzing data statistically, interpreting and presenting it using the computer.
  6. Self-development, ensuring the ability to learn throughout life.
