Today, Thursday, May 7, 2026, under the patronage and in the presence of Prof. Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Matari, Rector of the University, and in cooperation with Arsal Health Care, the university organized a specialized scientific seminar entitled: “Advances in Anticoagulants”.

 

The seminar witnessed broad participation from academics, physicians, healthcare professionals, and students of medical specialties, as part of the university’s commitment to promoting continuous medical education and keeping pace with modern developments in medical and therapeutic sciences. The seminar commenced with verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem. Dr. Mohammed Al-Hetar, Vice Rector of the University for Students’ Affairs, then delivered a speech on behalf of the university rector, expressing the university leadership’s appreciation for the scientific and organizational efforts made in holding this specialized scientific event.

 

In his speech, Dr. Al-Hetar emphasized that the university places great importance on high-quality scientific activities that keep up with rapid medical advancements. He noted that anticoagulants represent a highly specialized medical topic directly related to numerous clinical disciplines due to their crucial role in preventing blood clots and treating cardiovascular diseases and strokes, in addition to their pivotal importance in managing many critical and complex cases. He further explained that the rapid developments in this field require medical and academic professionals to stay updated with the latest scientific advancements and modern therapeutic protocols, contributing to improved healthcare quality and reducing complications associated with anticoagulant use. He also reaffirmed the university leadership’s commitment to supporting scientific conferences and seminars that help build qualified medical professionals equipped with the knowledge, skills, and ability to address modern medical challenges.

 

The seminar included two main scientific sessions, each comprising four specialized lectures delivered by a distinguished group of academics and consultants. The lectures covered the latest scientific developments related to anticoagulants, their mechanisms of action, therapeutic updates, modern clinical applications, methods for evaluating risks and benefits, and approaches to managing potential complications and treatment-related bleeding. The presentations also addressed the latest international therapeutic protocols and modern trends in the use of direct oral anticoagulants, alongside a review of several clinical cases and practical applications highlighting the importance of making precise treatment decisions according to each patient’s condition. The seminar witnessed notable attendance and active engagement from participants, with scientific interventions and specialized discussions enriching the sessions and facilitating the exchange of expertise and knowledge among academics, healthcare practitioners, and students in an academic atmosphere reflecting the university’s dedication to fostering scientific research and continuous professional development.

 

At the conclusion of the seminar, participants stressed the importance of promoting such specialized scientific events due to their significant role in enhancing the capabilities of healthcare professionals and strengthening evidence-based medical practice, ultimately improving the quality of healthcare services provided to patients. This seminar comes as part of a series of scientific activities and programs organized by Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences within the framework of its academic and medical mission aimed at supporting modern medical education, strengthening integration between academic and practical aspects, contributing to community service, and advancing the healthcare sector.
