The university leadership, headed by Prof. Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Matari, Rector of the University, and attended by Prof. Dr. Sadeq Al-Mohani, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies; Dr. Mujeeb Al-Saeedi, Dean of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance; Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ali Al-Hazmi, Dean of the Faculty of Laboratory Medicine Sciences; Prof. Dr. Abdulhakim Al-Sabban, Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy; Dr. Sumaya Al-Mulaiki, Dean of the Faculty of Midwifery; and Mr. Akram Al-Ashwal, General Director of Financial Affairs, held a joint meeting with a delegation from Al-Basar International Foundation – Yemen Sector.
The Foundation’s delegation included Mr. Hossamuddin Awad Abdullah, Managing Director of Al-Basar International Foundation – Yemen Sector; Dr. Muhannad Kamaluddin Mohammed Ibrahim, Director of Medical Affairs; and Mr. Mohammed Al-Omari, the Foundation’s Representative. The meeting discussed prospects for mutual cooperation between the two sides in a manner that enhances the distinguished performance of Makkah Eye Hospital in Jiblah, Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences, and its university hospital. This cooperation aims to develop clinical training fields, improve the efficiency of specialized services, and expand medical qualification programs in line with modern professional standards.
In his speech, the University Rector emphasized that the university views cooperation with Al-Basar International Foundation as a strategic partnership that contributes to integrating medical education with healthcare services. He noted that strengthening coordination with Makkah Eye Hospital opens broad opportunities for medical students to benefit from high-quality clinical expertise, positively reflecting on community service and the surrounding environment. He added that the coming phase requires a clear executive vision for cooperation, based on setting priorities, developing joint training programs, and improving operational mechanisms to ensure service quality and patient safety. He affirmed the university leadership’s commitment to provide a supportive academic and administrative environment to achieve tangible results.
For his part, Mr. Hossamuddin Awadh Abdullah expressed his pride in partnering with Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences, praising the seriousness and institutional orientation toward continuous development. He confirmed that Al-Basar International Foundation seeks to strengthen its presence in Yemen sector through effective partnerships with academic institutions, contributing to enhance specialized ophthalmology and eye surgery services and develop medical staff capacities through continuous training and qualification. He further noted that the integration between Makkah Eye Hospital, the university, and its university hospital represents a practical model of cooperation between educational and healthcare institutions, enhancing performance quality and adding value to the local community.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of continued coordination and the establishment of regular follow-up mechanisms to ensure the implementation of the meeting’s outcomes, positively impacting the level of healthcare services and medical education at the university and its hospitals.
