Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences hosted the Second Medical Licensure Competency Examination for the year 2026 on Thursday morning, 30 July 2026, for candidates from Ibb Governorate. The examination was organized by the Higher Medical Council and brought together 836 male and female candidates representing a range of medical and health disciplines. The examination forms part of the council’s ongoing efforts to enhance professional practice and ensure the competence of healthcare professionals before they enter the labor market.
The examination covered candidates from the following disciplines: Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, Bachelor of Dental Surgery, Bachelor of Pharmacy, Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences, Bachelor of Clinical Nutrition, Diploma in Pharmacy, Diploma in Medical Assistance, Diploma in Anesthesia Technology, and Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology. During the examination, Professor Abdullah Mohammed Al-Matari, Rector of Jiblah University, and Professor Abdulrahman Al-Hammadi, General Secretary of the Higher Medical Council, toured the examination halls to inspect the progress of the examination process. They reviewed the organization of the examination as well as the technical and administrative procedures implemented to ensure a suitable testing environment for all candidates.
Professor Abdullah Mohammed Al-Matari affirmed that hosting the competency examination reflects the university’s academic and national responsibility in supporting the Higher Medical Council’s efforts to develop the healthcare sector and enhance the competence of medical and health professionals. He further stated that the university had mobilized all its human and technical resources to ensure that the examination was conducted in an organized manner and in accordance with approved standards. He wished all candidates success, emphasizing that passing the competency examination represents an important milestone in their professional careers and demonstrates their commitment to the scientific and ethical standards required in the health professions.
For his part, Professor Abdulrahman Al-Hammadi explained that the competency examination is one of the fundamental pillars for ensuring the quality of professional practice in the healthcare sector. He noted that the Higher Medical Council is committed to applying unified and fair standards for assessing the scientific knowledge and practical competence of graduates, thereby strengthening public confidence in the outcomes of educational institutions and contributing to the improvement of healthcare services provided to citizens. Professor Al-Hammadi also praised the high level of organization provided by Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences in hosting the examination and expressed his appreciation for the cooperation of the university’s leadership and staff in meeting all the technical and administrative requirements necessary for the success of this important national mission.
The competency examination is organized as part of the Higher Medical Council’s efforts to enhance the quality of medical and health professions and to ensure that graduates possess the minimum knowledge and practical skills required to practice their professions competently and responsibly. These efforts contribute to improving the quality of healthcare services and strengthening the healthcare system in the Republic of Yemen. The examination marking and review team is scheduled to complete its work later today, after which the results will be submitted to the Higher Medical Council.
