Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences concluded this morning, Thursday, 23 July 2026, a series of workshops held in the 22 May Hall to discuss and approve the regulatory bylaws of the university journal, as well as newly proposed academic programs in the Faculty of Dentistry, including the Bachelor’s Program in Dental Technology, the Master’s Program in Orthodontics, and the Master’s Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The workshops were organized by the Center for Development and Quality Assurance in collaboration with the Vice Presidency for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies and the Faculty of Dentistry, marking the conclusion of a two-day academic program.

The second day’s sessions, dedicated to the discussion and approval of the Master’s programs in Orthodontics and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, were attended by Prof. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Matari, Rector of the University; Prof. Ahmed Ali Al-Hazmi, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies; Dr. Mohammed Al-Hetar, Vice Rector for Student Affairs; Prof. Sadeq Al-Mohani, Advisor to the University Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Laboratory Medicine; and Dr. Abdulghani Ma’zab, Advisor to the Governor and the University Rector for Human Development. The sessions also brought together international experts via Zoom, local consultants from Yemeni universities, faculty deans, faculty members, and specialists in quality assurance and academic accreditation. Participants reviewed and approved the program specification documents after making the necessary academic and scientific revisions.

Prof. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Matari emphasized that the university is implementing a strategic vision aimed at advancing graduate education and introducing high-quality academic programs that meet the needs of the healthcare sector while enhancing medical education and scientific research. He noted that reviewing and approving academic programs in accordance with quality standards is a fundamental pillar for achieving academic accreditation and strengthening the university’s competitiveness. He further explained that these workshops form part of the university’s ongoing plan to update its academic programs in line with scientific developments and labor market demands, thereby enhancing the quality of graduate education across various medical specialties.

During the workshop, Dr. Salah Al-Amrani, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, presented the strategic directions of the Master’s Program in Orthodontics, while Dr. Amr Aqlan introduced the program’s study plan and benchmarking references. Similarly, Prof. Faisal Abulohoom, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, outlined the strategic directions of the Master’s Program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Salman Al-Ameri presented the program’s curriculum and benchmarking references. The strategic planning sessions were facilitated by Dr. Mogeeb Alsaeedi, Dean of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance, while Mr. Wael Almaqtri, dean assistant of the center, moderated the discussions on the curricula and benchmarking references for both programs. The workshop featured extensive academic discussions focusing on learning outcomes, curricula, benchmarking standards, and quality assurance and academic accreditation requirements, ensuring that the proposed programs are aligned with national higher education standards and contribute to strengthening the quality of graduate programs within the Faculty of Dentistry.

The conclusion of these workshops marked the completion of the university’s two-day academic program. The first day included discussions and approval of the regulatory bylaws for Jiblah University Journal for Medical and Health Sciences, in addition to approving the program specification document for the Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Technology. These efforts are part of the university’s strategic plan to develop its academic and research system and introduce specialized programs that respond to community needs and labor market demands. On this occasion, the University Rector, the Vice Rectors for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies and Student Affairs, together with the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and the Dean of the Center for Development and Quality Assurance, honored Prof. Abdulhaq Al-Hasani with the university’s shield in recognition of his valuable contributions and continuous support for the Faculty of Dentistry’s academic programs.

The workshops concluded with the distribution of participation certificates to attendees and recognition of the organizing and preparation committees. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to the continuous development of academic and graduate programs in accordance with quality assurance and academic accreditation standards, further strengthening Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences’ position as a leading institution in medical education and scientific research, capable of preparing highly qualified healthcare professionals to meet the needs of national development and the healthcare sector.
