His Excellency the Minister of Education and Scientific Research, Mr Hassan Abdullah Al-Saadi, and the Governor of Ibb, Major General Abdulwahid Mohammed Salah, visited Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences and Jiblah University Hospital on the morning of Monday, 11 Rabi’ al-Awal 1448 AH, corresponding to August 24, 2026. The visit aimed to review the progress of the educational process, assess the level of achievement in the infrastructure projects being implemented by the university, and inspect the medical and educational services provided by the university hospital.
The Minister and Governor were accompanied during the visit by Major General Abdulghani Al-Houthi, Director of Security and Intelligence in the governorate; Judge Abdul Fattah Ghalab, Mobilization Officer in the governorate; and Brigadier General Mohammed Mohsen Al-Muraisi, Deputy Governor. The visit began with a field tour of the university’s buildings and lecture halls. The Minister and Governor reviewed the progress of construction work in classrooms, laboratories, and educational facilities. They also listened to a detailed briefing from Prof. Dr. Abdullah Al-Matari, Rector of the University, on the stages of project implementation, completion rates, buildings that have already become operational, and those currently under construction. He explained how these projects represent a qualitative addition to the university’s infrastructure, keeping pace with the expansion of its academic programs and its growing student population.
The visit also included Jiblah University Hospital, where the Minister and Governor inspected work in a number of medical departments and received an overview of the healthcare, therapeutic, and educational services provided by the hospital. They were also briefed on its role in training students of medical faculties, as well as its contribution to providing healthcare services to citizens from Ibb Governorate and neighboring governorates.
In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Matari, Rector of the University, welcomed His Excellency the Minister of Education and Scientific Research and the Governor of Ibb, expressing his appreciation for the visit, which reflects the interest of the ministry’s leadership and the local authorities in following up on the university’s progress and reviewing its developmental projects. Al-Matari noted that the university is witnessing continuous expansion in its infrastructure and academic programs, alongside the development of its educational, training, and research services. He emphasized that the achievements made so far are the result of sustained efforts and an institutional vision aimed at building a modern university environment capable of preparing qualified medical and health professionals who meet the needs of society and the healthcare sector.
For his part, His Excellency Mr Hassan Abdullah Al-Saadi, Minister of Education and Scientific Research, praised the advanced level of infrastructure and academic and medical facilities he observed during the visit. He commended the efforts of the university’s leadership in developing the educational process and completing its construction projects. The minister affirmed that Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences represents an outstanding model among specialized public universities, given the progress it has achieved in its academic programs, its emphasis on quality and academic accreditation, and its provision of an integrated educational and training environment. He noted that the ministry will continue to support public universities in ways that contribute to advancing the higher education and scientific research system.
For his part, the Governor of Ibb, Major General Abdulwahid Mohammed Salah, praised the role played by Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences and its university hospital in serving the community. He affirmed that the university has become a leading scientific institution in preparing medical and health professionals and has made an effective contribution to supply the healthcare sector with qualified personnel. He also highlighted the therapeutic and training services provided by the university hospital to the people of the governorate and neighboring governorates. The governor noted that the university’s expansion of its facilities and development of its academic programs reflect an ambitious vision that deserves support and encouragement, given its direct impact on enhancing the quality of medical education and contributing to development.
At the conclusion of the visit, the minister and governor expressed their appreciation for the achievements accomplished at Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences. They emphasized the importance of continuing to implement development projects and strengthening the university’s academic and medical capabilities in order to reinforce its position as one of the leading institutions in medical education, scientific research, and community service.
