Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Abdullah Al-Matari, Rector of the University, and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Faisal Abu Luhoum, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry and Professor of Maxillofacial Surgery, the Faculty of Dentistry organized a scientific day on dental implants for fifth-year students. This event was held as part of efforts to enhance the practical aspect of education and clinically prepare students.
The event witnessed the participation of Dr. Ahmed Ali Al-Ghaithi, instructor of the Dental Implantology course (practical component). The program combined both theoretical and practical aspects, where students were introduced to the fundamentals of dental implants, the mechanisms of the devices used, and hands-on training on implant equipment. They also practiced on artificial jaws and bone models, enabling them to gain a comprehensive understanding of dental implant components and their accessories. The scientific day also included four specialized workshops prior to clinical application. These workshops covered techniques for placing dental implants, modern surgical suturing methods, approaches to interpreting CT scans, as well as practical training on extracting Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) and the use of synthetic bone grafts.
In addition, fifth-year students expressed their appreciation to the university leadership and the faculty administration for their continuous support and commitment to provide an advanced learning environment that enhances their practical skills and improves educational outcomes. They also extended their gratitude to the course professor, Prof. Yasser Al-Shara’y, for his significant efforts in organizing and preparing this event.
Moreover, this event comes as part of the university and faculty’s ongoing efforts to strengthen practical training and bridge the gap between academic knowledge and clinical application. This also contributes to the preparation of qualified dental professionals who are capable of keeping pace with advancements in the field of dentistry.
