Since the early hours of Wednesday, May 20, 2026, the departments of the University Hospital hosted the final clinical bachelor’s examinations for the first batch of students in the Department of General Medicine and Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine. The examinations were conducted with the participation of a distinguished group of consultants and external examiners from several local universities and academic and medical institutions, as part of the university’s commitment to applying quality assurance and academic accreditation standards in evaluating its educational outcomes. The examinations covered a number of clinical and medical specialties, during which students were assessed practically and directly within the medical departments of the University Hospital to evaluate their clinical skills, diagnostic abilities, and professional handling of various medical cases.

Professor Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Matari, Rector of the University, affirmed that the arrival of the first batch of medical students at the stage of final clinical examinations represents an important historic milestone in the university’s journey and reflects the significant academic and scientific efforts exerted since the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Al-Matari explained that the university was keen to involve external examiners and consultants from local universities in order to strengthen standards of transparency and academic quality, contributing to a scientific and professional evaluation that reflects the students’ true level and enhances the community’s confidence in the university’s medical graduates. He also pointed out that the university continues to develop its academic and training programs and to link medical education with clinical practice within the University Hospital, ensuring the graduation of medical professionals who possess scientific competence, practical skills, and high professional ethics.

For his part, Dr. Baheej Al-Moreesy, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, stated that the faculty had prepared for the clinical examinations according to a comprehensive academic and technical plan, which included coordination with external examiners, faculty members, and medical staff at the University Hospital to ensure that the examinations were conducted accurately and systematically in accordance with the approved standards of modern medical education. Dr. Al-Moreesy confirmed that the examinations witnessed a good level of performance and discipline, reflecting the extent of the academic and clinical training received by the students throughout their years of study and training. He also praised the efforts of faculty members and clinical supervisors in making this important stage a success.

A number of participating consultants and external examiners expressed their admiration for the students’ scientific and clinical level, as well as the abilities they demonstrated during the examinations in diagnosis and clinical interaction with patients. They also commended the level of organization and preparation provided by the university and the University Hospital for the success of the examination process. These examinations come within the framework of the university’s orientation toward enhancing the quality of medical and practical education and preparing its students to engage efficiently and competently in the healthcare and medical labor market, thereby serving the community and contributing to the development of the health sector.
