The University Council held its fourth regular meeting for the academic year 1447 AH / 2025–2026 on Wednesday morning, May 13, 2026, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Matari, President of the University and Chairman of the Council. At the beginning of the meeting, council members stood a minute of silence and recited Surat Al-Fatiha in memory of the late students: Fatimah Zaid Rajeh, a first-level student at the Faculty of Midwifery, and Bashar Saleh Ali Hameed, a second-level student at the Faculty of Medicine, Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine, who passed away recently. The council prayed that Almighty Allah grants them His vast mercy, admits them into His spacious paradise, and grants patience and solace to their families, relatives, and colleagues.
Following this, Mr. Nabeel Abdulkareem Ali, General Secretary of the University, read the minutes of the previous meeting No. (3), which were discussed and approved before the council proceeded to discuss several academic and administrative matters related to the educational process and the university’s institutional development plans. The council reviewed the arrangements for the final examinations of sixth-level students at the Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Medicine and Surgery, covering both theoretical and clinical aspects. Emphasis was placed on completing all technical and academic procedures related to the examination process, including grading and hosting external examiners, in order to ensure that the examinations are conducted according to approved academic standards and that results are announced accurately and efficiently in a manner that serves students’ interests and enhances the quality of educational outcomes.
The council also discussed ongoing preparations for the graduation ceremony of the academic year 2025–2026, stressing the importance of early preparation and distinguished organization befitting the university and its graduates. The ceremony is expected to reflect the university’s honorable image and its academic and societal mission, particularly as this year will witness the graduation of the first batch from the Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Medicine and Surgery, as well as the first batch from the Faculty of Dentistry, in addition to the third batch from the faculties of Laboratory Medicine, Nursing, and Midwifery.
In addition, the council discussed the progress of the project aimed at updating and developing course specifications across various faculties and academic programs in accordance with quality assurance and academic accreditation standards, as well as modern developments in medical and health education. The council emphasized the importance of completing the updating process using approved academic models to improve learning outcomes and enhance the efficiency of educational programs.
As part of supporting scientific research and encouraging academic publishing, the council reviewed the financial allocations designated for free publication of scientific research. The university reaffirmed its commitment to motivating faculty members and researchers to actively contribute to scientific production and publish in peer-reviewed journals, thereby strengthening the university’s research and academic presence both locally and internationally. In the same context, the council discussed the Guide for Measuring Examination Quality Timing, considering it one of the developmental tools aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the evaluation process and achieving the highest standards of fairness and accuracy in university examinations.
The meeting also witnessed the honoring of Prof. Dr. Faisal Abu Luhoum, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry; Mr. Basheer Al-Baadani, General Director of Public Relations and Media; Engineer Al-Zubair Al-Aidaroos; and student Mohammed Al-Amrani, in recognition of their efforts in preparing and organizing the First Online Scientific Conference – Ramadan Edition, which achieved remarkable participation and interaction and contributed significantly to enriching scientific and academic knowledge.
Furthermore, Dr. Alaa Saif Al-Qahtani, faculty member at the Faculty of Dentistry, was honored in appreciation of his exceptional efforts in developing and updating the faculty’s programs in line with modern academic standards and quality outcomes. Dr. Ahmed Al-Ghaithi, also a faculty member at the Faculty of Dentistry, was likewise honored for his efforts in organizing the Scientific Day on Dental Implants for fifth-level students, which included scientific and practical activities aimed at enhancing students’ practical and academic skills in this specialized field. The council concluded its meeting by emphasizing the continuation of academic and administrative development efforts and fostering an institutional spirit that contributes to strengthening the university’s status and advancing the quality of its academic, research, educational, and community services.
