The Presidency Headquarters of the university witnessed, on the morning of Wednesday, May 20, 2026, the signing of a joint academic and scientific cooperation agreement with Al-Mahweet University. This step aims to strengthen partnership among Yemeni higher education institutions and expand cooperation in academic, research, and training fields, contributing to the development of university education quality and the enhancement of its academic outcomes.
The signing ceremony was attended by prominent official and academic figures, led by Professor Dr. Hatem Al-Duais, Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research; Dr. Ibraheem Ghalib Luqman, Undersecretary of the Ministry for the Higher Education Sector; and Dr. Fouad Abdu Al-Razzaq, Executive Director of the Ministry’s Information Technology Center, in addition to a number of university rectors, academicians, and individuals interested in educational affairs. The agreement was signed on behalf of Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences by Professor Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Matari, Rector of the University, while Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Saleh Al-Shalabi, Rector of Al-Mahweet University, signed on behalf of his university.
The speeches and discussions during the ceremony emphasized that this agreement represents a practical implementation of the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research’s orientation toward strengthening integration and coordination among Yemeni universities and activating academic partnerships that contribute to the exchange of expertise and the development of educational and research programs in line with current requirements and national development goals.
The agreement included several areas of joint cooperation, most notably the exchange of faculty members and academic expertise, cooperation in developing curricula and study plans, and joint efforts to achieve local and international quality assurance and academic accreditation standards. The agreement also covered support for postgraduate programs and the qualification of academic staff. It stipulated that Jiblah University for Medical and Health Sciences would provide academic scholarships for Master’s and PhD programs in available specializations, contributing to the qualification and enhancement of the scientific and research capabilities of Al-Mahweet University’s academic staff.
In the field of research and student activities, the agreement included joint academic supervision of postgraduate theses, exchange of student, cultural, and sports activities, in addition to the training of internship doctors and strengthening cooperation in scientific research and academic publishing. Furthermore, the agreement provided opportunities for free scientific publication for researchers in the scientific journals affiliated with both universities, as well as the exchange of data, electronic systems, and technical expertise in a manner that enhances the academic and research presence of both institutions.
At the conclusion of the event, the Deputy Minister of Education and Scientific Research praised this initiative, affirming that the ministry supports all academic initiatives and partnerships that contribute to the development of higher education and improve the quality of its scientific and research outcomes. He also called upon Yemeni universities to expand areas of cooperation and integration among themselves in support of the educational and developmental process in the country.
