The final clinical examinations (Bachelor’s Degree) for the General Surgery course were launched today, Wednesday, June 10, 2026, in the Department of Surgery at Jiblah University Hospital for the first Batch of Medicine and Surgery students at the Faculty of Medicine. The examinations were conducted with the participation of a distinguished group of consultants and external examiners from several Yemeni universities, medical institutions, and academic organizations, as part of the final stage of fulfilling graduation requirements and obtaining the Bachelor’s degree. The examinations were conducted in a well-organized academic and professional environment aimed at assessing students’ clinical skills, diagnostic and therapeutic abilities, and their competence in applying scientific knowledge to manage various medical conditions in accordance with the standards of modern medical education.
In a statement, Professor Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Matari, Rector of the University, affirmed that the commencement of the final clinical examinations for the first batch of the Faculty of Medicine represents a significant historical milestone in the university’s journey, as it marks the first graduating class approaching the completion of its academic program and transitioning to professional practice and community service. He noted that the university was keen to involve external examiners and consultants from various universities and academic institutions to ensure the highest levels of objectivity and quality in the assessment process. He emphasized that this stage reflects the tremendous efforts invested throughout the years of study and clinical training at the university hospital.
For his part, Dr. Baheej Al-Moreesy, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, explained that the final examinations for the General Surgery course constitute one of the key components of the students’ final assessment system, as they directly evaluate their clinical competencies and practical skills in dealing with patients and making appropriate medical decisions. He added that the faculty had completed all the necessary academic and technical preparations to ensure the successful conduct of the examinations, in coordination with the university hospital and external examiners, in accordance with approved academic standards. He also indicated that the examinations would continue the following day to complete the remaining assessment stations.
These examinations come within the framework of the university’s efforts to enhance the quality of medical education and strengthen the integration between academic learning and practical application, ultimately graduating medical professionals equipped with the scientific knowledge and clinical skills necessary to serve the healthcare sector and the community.
