Translation and Proofreading Committee held its first meeting on Thursday morning, 10 Rajab 1447 AH, corresponding to January 29, 2026 AD. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Al-Matari, Rector of the University and Chairman of the Supervisory Committee, and addressed several issues related to enhancing the quality of academic content and ensuring its linguistic accuracy and scientific rigor, in support of academic programs and accreditation requirements.
At the outset of the meeting, the university rector, who also chairs the supervisory committee, emphasized that accurate academic translation is a fundamental pillar in building the university’s scientific reputation. He stressed the importance of ensuring a high level of scientific rigor in academic content—particularly in programs, study plans, and course descriptions—in a manner that reflects the university’s seriousness and its commitment to approved academic standards. He also explained that the university is moving steadily towards developing its academic programs, which requires unifying scientific terminology and adhering to accuracy in translation, in order to ensure the clarity of the academic vision of the programs before regulatory and accreditation bodies, stressing that any linguistic or scientific flaw will negatively affect the quality of institutional outputs.
Dr. Mujeeb Al-Saidi, Dean of the Development and Quality Assurance Center, emphasized that the Translation and Proofreading Committee plays a vital role within the university’s overall quality assurance system, noting that high-quality academic programs depend on linguistically accurate and conceptually coherent scientific content. He explained that the Development and Quality Assurance Center works in conjunction with the committee to ensure that all academic documents are in line with quality and accreditation standards, whether in terms of content, language, or scientific structure, stressing that accurate translation is an effective tool in improving the university’s academic ranking and enhancing the confidence of accrediting bodies in its outputs. He added that the next phase will witness more organization in translation and auditing mechanisms, and the establishment of clear controls to standardize academic terminology, which will contribute to raising the efficiency of institutional performance and achieving the highest levels of quality in academic programs.
The meeting’s first focus was on translating and reviewing academic programs, study plans, and course descriptions written in Arabic, with an emphasis on the accuracy of academic wording and its alignment with the approved standards for academic programs in higher education. The meeting also addressed, in its second focus, the review and translation of the names of scientific programs and courses, and working to unify the academic terminology used in various colleges and disciplines, in order to achieve institutional harmony, and contribute to raising the quality of academic documents and reducing the variation in linguistic uses. In the third section, the committee discussed the translation of academic evidence, reports, and local and international agreements, focusing on the accuracy of the scientific content, the integrity of the language, and ensuring its compliance with academic accreditation requirements, in a way that reflects the professional image of the university to the relevant authorities.
The meeting also discussed the translation of updated pages on the website and proposed a mechanism for translating future updates. The committee’s name and members were also approved. Moreover, this meeting is part of the university’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of academic content, develop educational materials, and meet academic accreditation requirements, in line with the university’s vision and mission of academic excellence.
