pharmacy Learning outcomes

After the student completes these programs, he will be able to obtain the learning outcomes that are appropriate for each of the following skills:

Knowledge and Understanding ( knowledge and understanding )

Upon completion of the program, the student will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the fundamentals of basic and biomedical sciences, including physics, mathematics, chemistry, human anatomy, normal and abnormal bodily functions, the foundations of genomics, and various biochemical pathways and their relationship to different diseases.
  2. Explain the fundamentals of social and behavioral sciences related to pharmacy and healthcare ethics, and their impact on their relationship with patients and other healthcare professionals.
  3. Explain the physicochemical properties of pharmaceutical products and their relationship to molecular structure and designing medical agents.
  4. Describe the analytical methods and principles, design, development, and validation of pharmaceutical products, determining drug behaviors within living organs, therapeutic uses of drugs in humans, adverse reactions, drug interactions, toxicity, and misuse.
  5. Explain the fundamentals of complementary and alternative medicine, identifying the types of toxic substances and their sources, mechanisms of toxicity, analysis, clinical images, and management.
  6. Describe of the biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics of medicines and their applications, identification of the foundations of health policy, drug economics, pharmacoepidemiology, marketing, and management with reference to pharmacy.
  7. Describe the pharmacist’s role in healthcare, including the creation, design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and modification of patient-specific, evidence-based drug therapy plans to achieve maximum clinical effectiveness.
  8. Identify the characteristics of different pharmaceutical dosage forms, including new drug delivery systems and biotechnology.
  9. Describe the methods of biostatistical analysis and pharmaceutical calculations; explaining the basics of oral and non-oral nutrition, intravenous additives, and the use of appropriate medical devices and supplies.
  10. Define the basics of working in a hospital pharmacy, including dispensing medications according to prescriptions, distributing them, reporting and advising patients on the side effects and seriousness of the medication.

Cognitive Skills / Intellectual Skills ( Intellectual skills )

Upon completion of the program, the student will be able to:

  1. Collect, interpret, and evaluate relevant pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences to construct the pharmacological factors of structure and their impact on drug stability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics.
  2. Classify synthetic and natural drugs according to their mechanism of action, systemic effects, therapeutic uses, contraindications, and toxicity.
  3. Design and evaluate different types of safe and effective pharmaceutical dosage forms, and define Diamond Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); to conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of pharmaceutical preparations.
  4. Plan a modern system for managing medical institutions and integrate ethical business practices into pharmaceutical marketing.
  5. Develop appropriate methods for extracting, isolating, purifying, identifying, and standardizing active ingredients from various sources, and evaluate patient care plans regarding the rational use of medications to improve patient safety and efficacy.
  6. Use appropriate research methods to solve practice problems and applying pharmaceutical accounting in various pharmaceutical practices.

Practical and Professional Skills ( practical and professional skills )

  • • Handling chemical, biological, and pharmaceutical materials safely, taking into account their physical and chemical properties, including any specific hazards associated with their use, distribution, and storage.
    • Operation of Pharmaceutical Equipment and Instruments*
    • Operating various pharmaceutical equipment and instruments, and utilizing emerging technologies in the preformulation, formulation, filling, storage, and analysis of pharmaceutical products in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), Good Storage Practices (GSP), and Compliant Generalized Management Professional (CGMP) guidelines.
  • • Drug Testing and Bioassays
  • • Testing drugs from various sources, performing bioassays, and conducting pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical experiments.
  • • Natural Product Extraction*
  • • Extracting, isolating, purifying, identifying, standardizing, formulating, and ensuring the rational use of natural products.
  • • Providing Patient Consultation
  • • Providing consultation to patients and healthcare professionals to optimize medication use.
  • • Employing Relevant Medication Preparation Methods
  • • Employing relevant methods for preparing and administering medications, including additives, total parenteral nutrition (TPN), and intravenous (IV) supplementation.
  • • Applying Administrative and Pharmacoeconomic Principles
  • • Applying administrative and pharmacoeconomic principles in pharmacy and the ethical use of marketing skills to promote pharmaceutical and cosmetic products.
  • • Utilizing the results of studies and research
  • • Utilizing the results of studies and research in various pharmaceutical fields.

Transferable / General Skills ( Transferable - General skills )

Upon completion of the program, the student will be able to:

1. Interact and communicate effectively and ethically with patients and healthcare professionals.

2. Apply financial, administrative, decision-making, time management, organizational, sales, and marketing skills.

3. Appreciate the importance of teamwork and the need to work within personal boundaries.

4. Take responsibility for adapting to changes in pharmacy practice and drawing upon key evidence-based references to maximize clinical effectiveness.
